Dream about a Private Island - Wake up at Eagle Lodge

Private Islands of Georgia - EAGLE ISLAND

Eagle Island is literally a world apart, in many ways. Accessible only by boat through a meandering and scenic river route, this pristine barrier Island on the Southeast coast of Georgia is the antidote to a stressful life. The first sound you will hear as you disembark is nature. No vehicles, no loud music, no sirens, not even another voice. What you will hear is the call of our local shorebirds and the wind rustling through the centuries old oaks and palm trees. Any other sounds you hear on Eagle Island are entirely up to you.

Enter the sanctuary of this controlled wilderness through a gate symbolic of passage from one world to another. As you traverse the walkway, you will immediately notice the tension draining from your body. Enter the porch of the lodge and find yet another decadent surprise. A built-in outdoor fireplace is perfectly situated directly in front of a hot tub. The porch of the lodge encompasses the perimeter of the entire home and is completely screened. Enjoy the extension of outdoor living with comfortable furniture including a hammock and surprising homey touches.

The interior of the lodge will charm and delight you. It has been furnished and outfitted to pamper the body and nourish the soul and does a fine job of accomplishing its goal. The full length windows allow sunlight to fill the entire lodge. The furniture is luxurious and centred around a beautiful brick fireplace. A distinctive carving adorns above the fireplace and is reminiscent of the Tree Spirits of St. Simons Island. Imagine cool fall evenings, a roaring fire, spiced cider and your one and only.

Bedrooms are simple and elegant with the finest of linens. The bath is a sensual delight with a double headed shower. There is an additional bunk/play room at the lodge - a perfect set up for the children with plenty of bedding, a ping-pong table and stereo. The lodge also provides everything you need for fishing, crabbing, or just relaxing. Eagle Island also boasts a large fire pit perfect for roasting marshmallows and spinning ghost stories. This fire pit is just steps from the home and directly in front of the large fishing pond.

The lodge at Eagle is 10 acres of uninterrupted wilderness, the site of one of only 17 bald eagle nests in the state of Georgia and nature in all its undiluted majesty. This is the place for lovers to escape, for families to reconnect and recharge, for couples to begin their lives together. It is a place for a place to turn your face up to the sun and feel the gentle breeze on it, a place to smile a contented smile, a place to just be...

Come to Eagle Island and remember when life was simple.

Eagle Island is one of America’s most secluded private islands on the Atlantic coast. Only a 10-minute boat ride from Darien, Georgia (a small fishing town 60 miles south of Savannah), it features the Eagle Lodge. Completely outfitted with luxurious amenities, the Lodge comes with an uninhibited 10-acre private island! Eagle Lodge sits alone – surrounded by wildlife and flora in their natural environment, offering peace, quiet and complete seclusion. Thousands of acres of Georgia coastal marsh cut the lodge off from the rest of the world.

With an alluring kitchen, guests bring food, beverages and an enthusiasm for preparing freshly caught crab and fish from the island’s private dock. Sleeping arrangements accommodate up to 10 people, 2 bathrooms, hot tub, fireplace and 1,500 sq. ft. of screened porch.

Here you can explore the dazzling and miraculous Georgia salt marsh eco system, take coastal cruises or watch a full moon rising. Eagle Island is only accessible via boat; owner Andy Hill provides round-trip transportation with each visit. Eagle Island is a “5-Moon Resort” – no agenda, no clock, no deadlines.
