Despite the fifty years between them, Tom and his father became best friends. Geno closely followed his youngest son’s football career and taught Tom all he knew about the game. After more than a few setbacks, Tom McManus finally achieved his lifelong dream of playing for the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars. Tom’s father, hero and mentor, would eventually die of cancer when he was in his seventies. His last words to his son were, “We’ll always be pals.”
