Jacksonville Beach (August 2009) On September 13, 2009 Bill Frank and his wife Ruth, married 73 years, will be gathering at the historic Casa Marina Hotel for Sunday brunch – after a weekend of family festivities to usher in his 100th Birthday!

Born in 1909 in Long Branch, New Jersey, Bill Frank had diverse lines of business after graduating from Yale in 1932. He began in the stock brokerage business (starting at $15/week). During WWII from 1942-46 Frank was in the Army Air Force. He owned Countywide Propane Gas Company, was Director and V.P. of Kensico Cemetery and co-owner of Bryant Equipment Co., a heating & air conditioning equipment company.

Today, the Frank’s reside at the Carriage Club in Jacksonville. Their daughter, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren have a celebratory weekend planned that includes a ‘Centenarian Cocktail Social’ in Ponte Vedra, a dinner at the Ponte Vedra Lodge…Sunday Brunch at the Casa Marina…concluding with a dinner/dance at the Carriage Club.

The Casa Marina Hotel, at 84, is a grand old lady and still turning heads! Ever since it opened its doors onto the Jacksonville beaches in 1925, when every postcard of the era announced ‘world’s finest beach’, the Casa Marina has remained an alluring landmark of Florida history. There have been many forgotten moments in the vast drama of the 1920’s, but the mystery of the Casa Marina is that she must have seen it all. Recognized in 2005 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of the Historic Hotels of America, The Casa Marina Hotel also offers retreat guests 23 bedrooms and parlor suites, individually and dramatically decorated to represent the distinctive and changing eras of its dazzling history. Its salon-inspired restaurant is reminiscent of oceanfront fine dining anywhere in the world. Both the Hotel and Restaurant bring a feeling of classic, timeless glamour from the 1920’s to Jacksonville Beach, a blend of captivating history, natural beauty and sophisticated culture. # # #
