INVITATION TO JOIN EXPANDING TRAVEL JOURNALISM ORGANIZATION
Southeast Regional Conference Addresses ‘REINVENTION’

Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl. (JULY 2010) Please join us October 26 and 27, 2010 for the first Southeast Regional Conference of International Food Wine & Travel Writers Association. Our theme is ‘REINVENTION’ ~ from how we channel and re-direct our own energies and businesses to how the travel industry is quickly evolving in new directions every day. How can we keep up and on what track do we focus our course?

We’re excited to present a star-studded lineup of travel, food and hospitality industry leaders:

IFWTWA President Maralyn Hill will discuss the organization’s process of reinventing itself since 2007 – an evolution due to changing technology and markets.

Mr. Thierry Roch, Executive Director of Historic Hotels of America and the National Trust for Historic Presentation will share insights about the changing scene of the hotel industry. www.historichotels.org

Amanda Drake, PR Director, ~ YPartnership – America’s leading and preeminent source of market intelligence on emerging business and leisure travel trends. Get the scoop about ‘Portrait of the American Traveler’. www.ypartnership.com

What makes a legend? Phyllis Geiger, creator of Peterbrooke Chocolate shares secrets about reinventing a successful company and product line from year to year. Twenty-five years later and 30+ store strong in the Southeast, Peterbrooke Chocolate is a tough contender in the confectionary world. Get ready and Flex your Chocolate Appetite! www.peterbrooke.com

Award-winning photographer Hookey Hamilton ~ “I have no earth-shaking mystical, convoluted, complicated, evolutionary reasons that I photograph. I love beauty. I have to express it, share it and make everything I see come to life”.

The conference is being held at the historic Casa Marina Hotel in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. www.casamarinahotel.com . General Manager Mr. Mark Vandeloo will take us on a tour of this oceanfront boutique hotel that opened its doors onto the Jacksonville beaches in 1925, when every postcard of the era announced ‘world’s finest beach’.

‘Reinvention’ is the topic of an Editor’s/Publishers’s Panel discussion featuring:
Joe White – Jacksonville Magazine – Editor/Publisher
Mark Pettus – Ponte Vedra Recorder and The Register
Barbara Ryan – St. Marys Magazine – Editor/Publisher

Meet fellow IFWTWA members throughout our region as well as potential new members. We are very excited about bringing you together as we grow to a new level of enhanced information and educational opportunities. www.ifwtwa.org

The International Food Wine & Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA) is a global network of journalists who cover hospitality and lifestyle fields and the people who promote them.

In 1956 a group of prominent Frenchmen started rating restaurants. This small group, along with an American, conceptualized an international version of their organization. It became the International Food Wine & Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA), when formally created as a non-profit organization in California in 1983.

With members in Europe, Asia and Australia, the association is comprised of journalists, broadcasters, photographers, public relations specialists, tourist boards, convention & visitors’ bureaus and epicurean professionals. IFWTWA is a non-profit organization that is run by and for the benefit of its members.
