21 Travel Writers Arrive in St. Augustine -

JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT!
September 14, 15, 16, 2008

St. Augustine, Florida (September 2008) America’s Oldest City – just for fun? That’s what 21 travel writers are going to find out during their 72 hour (3 night) visit beginning Sunday, September 14 ~ once they spend a few days in this colorful and famous city. Invited by travel Public Relations specialist Leigh Cort on behalf of the Inns of Elegance, the journalists are flying, driving and training in to St. Augustine from around the US.

It’s a great and varied group of travel & culinary writers from 8 states including some of the following cities: Miami Beach, Santa Monica, New York City, Brooklyn, Florence, Pompano Beach, Atlanta, Washington and Orlando” states Cort. “I pre-qualify the visiting journalists for 3-5 months prior to each media trip that the Inns of Elegance host, guaranteeing that each writer has the seasoned talent and media connections to bring positive exposure to St. Augustine and our Northeast Florida destination. From the moment they arrive, we share some of the ‘best of the best’ themed experiences that will hopefully be included in their stories.”

Recognized for newspaper, magazine, online, radio and TV journalism, a few of the writers’ anticipated itinerary follow, which is what lured them to St. Augustine from the beginning (Winter 2008):

If you have a wild side - take an eco-adventure and spot manatees within an arm’s length
• Taste regional cuisine at many of St. Augustine’s most distinctive restaurants
• Stay in an award-winning historic inn ‘with a pedigree’
• Forget about your troubles and explore a quiet 20-mile beach
• For your gastronomic fantasy, delight in a culinary class with a celebrated French chef
• Hop aboard the Old Town Trolley that brings St. Augustine to life - as it turns every corner of the colorful historic district
• Act like a kid again and drive a mini ‘ScootCoupe’ to a gourmet chocolate tasting or historic museum tour

Cort makes their visit easy to navigate and understand; most are visiting St. Augustine for the first time. The writers are prepared to understand that St. Augustine is a walking city. They’re encouraged to bring their casual attire and wear their most comfy shoes, sling a camera over their shoulders and let the fun of America’s oldest city unfold for 3 days where art, adventure, global cuisine and ghost tales are flourishing for at least the next hundred years.

The award-winning Inns of Elegance are hosting this September media FAM trip for journalists that appreciate history and romance – but realize that a FUN getaway is just what their next story requires. St. Augustine is a waterfront city, rich in history, charm, style and unquestionably a place with heart. Then (from the 1500’s – 1920’s) it earned its place in multi-cultural history. Today the alliance of historic inns have carved a niche of their own for discerning guests who enjoy pampered getaways to their favorite city with a pedigree.
