St. Augustine’s new multi-cultural and multi-ethnic CYPRIAN CENTER FOR EXPRESSIVE ARTS is a unique organization where children and adults of all ages and cultural heritages can come together to enjoy and gain instruction in many varied arts. Offering and supporting programs in visual, lively and expressive arts to enhance personal and community spirit (including music, painting, photography, quilting, mosaics, film studies, lectures and dance), the Center is a non-profit corporation made possible by a grant from the Kresge Foundation of Troy, Michigan. Located in the Mission House of historic St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church, the Center is modeled after comparable cultural organizations in Cleveland, Pittsburg and Charleston, among others. Robert D. Storey, who, with his wife Juanita are members of St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church, was a Kresge trustee for 15 years. Upon his retirement, the grant was made to honor his service and personal choice of organization, as is customary for long time trustees.
