Tom McManus Pledges Support to Wounded Warrior Project

Former NFL Linebacker Pledges His Support to Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) through Proceeds from His Book, “We’ll Always Be Pals”
-- Tom McManus To Donate One Dollar to WWP for every book sold--

Jacksonville, FL (August, 2009) – Former Jaguars linebacker Tom McManus announced today his support of Wounded Warrior Project, through sales of his book, “We’ll Always be Pals.”

“I wrote this book to honor my father and I know how much he valued his military service and the sacrifices endured by members of our nation’s armed forces,” said McManus. “This donation is my small way of showing the profound gratitude I feel for this generation of severely wounded veterans.”
The book focuses on the relationship between father and son, fifty years apart but best friends. “We’ll Always Be Pals” are the last words McManus’s father spoke to him before he died.
Tom McManus attended Boston College and received his bachelor’s degree in marketing. He will be inducted into the Boston College Hall of Fame Class of 2009 later this fall. Tom was part of the Jacksonville Jaguars from 1995-1999 and played an instrumental role during their miraculous 1996 season. He now is the owner and host of a sports talk radio show in Jacksonville, Florida called, “The Rumble with Tom McManus” on 1010 XL. He is active in the Jacksonville community and serves as a motivational speaker. Tom and his wife Kristina have three beautiful daughters, Avery, Kelsey, and Harley.

Beginning at the bedside of the severely wounded, Wounded Warrior Project provides programs and services designated to ease the burdens of these heroes and their families, aid in the recovery process and smooth the transition back to civilian life. Services provided by WWP include benefits and career counseling, adaptive sports opportunities, advocacy initiatives and combat stress seminars.

“Wounded Warrior Project is deeply thankful for Tom McManus’s commitment to our organization,” stated Wounded Warrior Project Executive Director, Steven Nardizzi. “Our motto is ‘The Greatest Casualty is Being Forgotten’ and with Mr. McManus’s support, we will ensure that doesn’t happen.”

Over 33,000 soldiers have been injured in the current war on terror including amputations, traumatic brain injuries and severe burns that will retire these brave warriors from military service.
