Fritzel's - The Home of Traditional New Orleans Jazz

Fritzel’s European Jazz Pub is the ‘little jazz club that could’. Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, it has become a Mecca for true Dixieland Jazz lovers AND musicians. Since 1969, local New Orleaneans and international visitors to ‘the big easy’ consider Fritzel’s their home away from home. Nestled in an historic 1831 building in the heart of the French Quarter on Bourbon Street, there is a genuine warm welcome extended nightly by Proprietor Vasile Zarganis and Kate, General Manager.

Reliving the days of Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet (clarinet), Joe ‘King’ Oliver (cornet), Johnny Dodds (clarinet) and Alvin Batiste (clarinet) ~ Fritzel’s whisks their guests back in time to when Dixieland music was purely THE sound that made this city so unique. It’s a modest club that feels just right to guests who want to get close to the music. Its intimate setting erases the distance between audience and band which always includes seasoned, accomplished musicians.

Fritzel’s remarkable building is an example of American architecture sprinkled with Creole influence. The jazz pub features a charming secluded garden courtyard and dazzling 2nd floor for private parties with a built-in bar and beautiful large balcony overlooking Bourbon Street.

The heart of New Orleans is the Vieux Carre (old square) whose boundaries begin on the Mississippi River and span only 13 blocks by 6 blocks; Bourbon Street – Rue Bourbon – was founded in 1718 and runs the length of the French Quarter.

Come dance the night away and let the magic of New Orleans take you back a hundred years or so. They’ll introduce you to the best world-class Dixieland Jazz musicians in America today~
