Meet Michael Saunders, Longboat Key native and one of Southwest Florida’s
most prominent and acclaimed real estate business women.
7:00pm Dinner at Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant & Pub
Only a short drive from Sandpiper Inn, you’ll find Mar Vista in Longboat Key’s
historic district under the centuries-old trees – still preserving history in
‘Longbeach’. One of the 12 oldest surviving buildings on the key. Meet owner
Ed Chiles – the restaurateur with a pedigree.

Just walk across Gulf of Mexico Drive for a hearty breakfast that’s like being in
your family’s dining room. At the Blue Dolphin everyone knows your name after only one visit; Sandpiper Inn guests seasonally enjoy a ‘Bed & Breakfast’ option.

Dating as far back as 1913, when Tampa folks came by boat to Anna Maria
Island’s bay side, the ‘Pavilion’ became The Sandbar in 1979 when Ed Chiles,
son of the late Governor ‘Walkin’ Lawton Chiles, purchased it. History, great
food, fine spirits and polite service!
1:30pm VIP Passes to the Mansions & Museums of Sarasota
Enjoy a self-guided ‘Open Afternoon’ that might include some of the following:

Meet the Christensen Family (Lynn, Harry and Hal) who have been creating fine cuisine on Longboat Key for 30 years. We will enjoy a sumptuous tasting dinner with paired wines where delicious food, great wines, relaxed atmosphere have been a local treasure for dining, gourmet to go and catered events.

8:00am ‘The Fish Tale’ with Cap’n Mark Gore
Surf Fishing ‘Gulf of Mexico’ Style. Relax, toss a cast net, walk
the beach and ease into the day with fishing & hunting expert Mark Gore.
10:30am Hop on the Trolley to St. Armands Circle
For only 75 cents, Longboat Key visitors can hop aboard an open air trolley that
runs the length of the Key to famous St. Armands Circle. Plan to spend the next
few hours of ‘magic’ and then return to Sandpiper Inn.
11:15am Circus Sarasota – More than a Circus
Meet Dolly Jacobs, acclaimed world-premier aerialist, on the Ring of Fame in the
center of St. Armands Circle for a personal glimpse into the history and lore of
‘The Circus’ greats. She will surprise and delight us with a live presentation from
Circus Sarasota’s leading performers.
12:45pm Lunch at Columbia - Celebrating 50 years in Sarasota
General Manager Tony Monetti knows we’ll be enjoying delicious home-style
Spanish cuisine whether ordering Shrimp “Al Ajillo” or the famous “1905” Salad™
tossed at our table. The Gonzmart Family and Columbia Restaurant continue
the tradition of Casimiro Hernandez, Sr. who founded one of Florida’s restaurant
legends in Ybor City in 1905…more than a century ago.
2:30pm Hop a Trolley to Sandpiper Inn/Longboat Key
This is a great time to take a nap, stroll the quiet beach for shells, check your
Emails or relax on your private patio chaise lounge!
5:00pm Cruise on the Liquid Limousine with Captain Jimmy Seaton
Nobody could enchant us on the water better than Jimmy Seaton, giving us a
glimpse of Longboat Key ‘from the outside in’. With his ‘up close & personal’ relationships knowing the ‘who’s who’ of the area, settle back on the 29’ cabin
Cruiser Liquid Limousine and listen to his accounts and anecdotes. He’s a U.S.
Coast Guard Licensed Master Captain who keeps people on the move with stretch limo’s and celebrity jet charters.
8:00pm The Famous ‘Euphemia Haye’ ~ Climb to the Haye Loft
Chef Ray Arpke is the culinary inspiration of Euphemia Haye, recognized as one of Florida’s premier restaurants since opening in 1975. Your hosts are Euphemia Haye’s owners D’Arcy and Ray Arpke and Longboat Key’s Tom Aposporos, President of the Chamber of Commerce. The Haye Loft Lounge and Dessert Room will be our late night island spot for a ‘taste’ of the menu that has hosted international celebrities for more than 30 years.
