Palm Beach Post - 7 INNS OFFER BREEZY, BUBBLY PERKS
May 4, 2008 - By MARY THURWACHTER
You've got to admire St. Augustine, 443 years old and always finding ways to celebrate.
This year, the Seven Inns of Elegance in St. Augustine invite visiting couples to take a romantic two-hour sail along the historic bayfront aboard the Schooner Freedom as their guests. The promotion runs from May 4 through Nov. 19.
Guests who stay for two nights Sunday-Thursday at the prevailing full-rate price per inn (not including holiday or weekend periods) receive a complimentary bottle of champagne at the inn begins and tickets for two to sail the Schooner, a $100 value.
The tall ship is a U.S. Coast Guard certified sailing vessel, a replica of the blockade runners that once cruised in the 19th century. She was built in Norfolk, Va., in 1982 by naval architect Merritt Walters.
Guests can choose either a sunset 2-hour romantic evening sail watching the dazzling sunset embracing the city's skyline, or a midday cruise through the Matanzas River soaking up the sun and watching for dolphins and manatees. Snacks, fruit, beer, wine and soft drinks are included. The Inns of Elegance include the Inn on Charlotte Street, Casa De La Paz, the St. Francis Inn, Bayfront Wescott, Casablanca Inn, Casa De Solana and Bayfront Marin House.
