Innkeepers in Their 3rd Decade in America's Oldest City
Joe Finnegan and his wife Margaret bought the St. Francis Inn (circa 1791) in St. Augustine 22 years ago exclaiming “Oh, boy, now I can be my own boss.” Today he admits “If you want a successful business in the hospitality industry, your guest is your boss and everything you do is for their pleasure and comfort.”
In 1985, there wasn’t an opportunity to promote a small historic inn on an even playing field to compete with the ‘big boys’, meaning the 4- and 5- star hotels. Today, their newly designed website can be found just as easily as any of those properties globally. “All of the little guys like me can be discovered and our website is our primary marketing tool.”
In October 2006, Finnegan hired an accomplished photographer who specializes in hospitality photos. Add to the photos all of the savvy ideas and innkeeping techniques he learned throughout his 22 year career, he has created a dazzling new website that is easy to navigate, informational and very pleasing for potential guests to preview.
