“Is it a Vase or Face?” -- Learning to Draw Means Learning to See Things Differently
Once again, ‘Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain’ Workshop is coming to historic St. Francis Inn for the 2nd Annual Seminar based on the New York Times best selling book of the same name published in 1979. Whether one feels they have little talent and doubt they could ever learn to draw or one enjoys drawing but have not been able to progress beyond a child-like level, these workshops teach how to gain and master drawing skills.
From February 4-8, 2008, the focus of the workshop is on drawing. Absolutely no previous art training or special talent for drawing is necessary. However, for professional artists, the workshop instills greater confidence in one’s ability to deepen artistic perception. Translated into 13 languages, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain is the world’s most widely acclaimed drawing instruction book. Enhancing creativity and artistic confidence!
There is a synergy between the St. Francis Inn (the oldest inn in America’s oldest city) and Brian Bomeisler’s acclaimed workshops. The Inn is one of the most often photographed and painted historic buildings in St. Augustine. Artists can be spotted in the Inns’ garden or nearby on St. George Street sketching during all seasons of the year. Learning to draw means learning to see things differently – to see in ways not frequently used in ordinary life. Drawing can be used to record what is seen either in reality or in the mind’s eye. As the Inn dates to 1791, centuries of people and stories are often interpreted by the artist not totally unlike the way one records thoughts and ideas in words.
